Recent testimonials:

"After many years I recently decided to sell my Matchbox MOY collection, the run of the mill models went to a regular public auction and fetched very little. However I did own some rarer models including a Blue Hoover with Certificate and I put these in the Matchbox Club Postal Auction and was delighted with the price that they fetched. I was also impressed at the way it was conducted and my sincere thanks to Kevin for his very professional approach to the Matchbox Club." Jeff Williams (non member) May 2009

"The sale of my Matchbox toys was conducted entirely by email. During our correspondence Kevin responded to my various queries promptly and courteously. It was a pleasure to have the matter dealt with so efficiently.
From the time I first approached Kevin in regard to the possible auction of my collection to the day when I received a larger than expected cheque for the sale proceeds, it took just 11 weeks. " Alan Moore (non member) June 2009

"Thank you the Matchbox Club for selling my Matchbox toy in March 2010 for a world record of £10,200 plus commissions. Your professionalism and concentrated marketing was 100%. Thank you." Takuo Yoshise Japan 5 April 2010

Thank you for handling this task and it looks like we did as you anticipated. Regards, Peter Steffen (non member USA) April 2011

I am happy to say a big thank you for the courteous and professional service I have received from you, and I am extrememly pleased with the result. It has been a pleasure to do business with you, and I wish you and the Club every success for the future. Kind regards, Clive Bibby (non member) 14 June 2011.

That is fantastic! it has paid for a large chunk of our up and coming wedding.
we thank you for all your help in the selling of these models. Chris Duke (non member) 5 August 2011

"Firstly can I thank you very much for your help and advice with the models which were entered in the 27-4 Auction within your Club. Also many thanks for the midway up dates and the final out come, both very pleasing. Help & advice given from first contact to the final out come excellent and honest. Good luck with the Club" Nigel Field non-Member. 1 February 2012

"When I decided to sell my modest collection of Matchbox Lesney's that I had owned for over 40 years I wasn't sure who to approach or the value of them. After contacting a number of Auction Houses I was not encouraged by their interest or knowledge. I then chanced upon Kevin and the Matchbox Club; and very pleased that I did. From the first email contact with Kevin he provided a professional appraisal of my collection and kept me informed of their progress throughout the 27-4 auction. I am very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend Kevin and the Matchbox Club to any potential seller". Steve Rockley non- Member. 2 February 2012

How to enter models in the postal auction...

How to enter models in the postal auction...

The Matchbox Club (MICA) Postal Auction is fast approaching its 20th Year.

Unlike other auctions ours is just MATCHBOX and each lot has a reserve so that there is some protection...

The Matchbox Club (MICA) Postal Auction takes place every 3 months....in other words there are 4 Matchbox auctions a year.

You do not need to be a Club member, it is a service open to everyone and everyone can bid too...

Lots can consist of one or several models, but should be worth at least £50. Kevin will advise you on this.

This is a service to collectors wishing to sell surplus models to fellow collectors.

All models should be mint/boxed or rare/unusual and from ranges or series to include Models of Yesteryear, Dinky (Matchbox and Meccano), Miniatures both Regular Wheel and Superfast, Major Pack, Kingsize, Early Lesney Toys etc.

Rare and mint (boxed) models sell well in this auction.

Overseas clients can be paid in their currency by an International Bankers Draft.

If you wish to discuss anything pertinent to the auction including our very very competitve commission, please do not hesitate to email or ring: kevin@matchboxclub.com

The Club usually charges are as follows:

(1) £10.00 per lot to cover administration, photography and postage to the customer
(2) 10% of the eventual hammer price

AN EXAMPLE:
Y12 Blue Hoover with certificate that has a reserve of £500.00 and realises £800.00

The CLUB receives:
(1) 10% of the eventual hammer price £80.00
(2) £10.00 per lot to cover administration, photography and postage £10.00
TOTAL £90.00

The SELLER receives:
£800.00 minus £90.00 - TOTAL £710.00 to be paid by sterling cheque within 3 weeks from the end of the auction.

Please send your list of proposed auction models. We may not accept any model that we feel will not sell OR where the reserve is considered so high that the lot will not attract any bids.

How to pay for 'won' lots

Sucessful buyers will be asked to settle for their lots by using PayPal (no extra charges will be levied) or by BACCS, Sterling cheque or by Bank Transfer or Draft.

How to bid in the postal auction...

How to bid in the postal auction...

THE MATCHBOX CLUB POSTAL AUCTION

Postal bids must be received by 10 am (UK time) via the Auction check out
OR in an envelope clearly marked' AUCTION' - we cannot accept late bids.

We have given the reserve and no lot will be sold at a lower value than the reserve.

HOW TO BID There are 3 ways:

(a) State a specific amount in sterling against the lot or lots you are interested in. eg:

LOT 1 £I00: LOT 2 £250 OR

(b) You can add to these amounts with running bids up to a MAXIMUM amount. This will assist us if two or more of you bid the exact same amount for a particular lot. By adding a further sequence of bids this should more often than not provide a top bidder. e.g.:

LOT 3 - £70 but if necessary £80, £90, £100 with £101 being the MAXIMUM bid. This will mean that the actual bid is at least £70 and no more than £ 101 and depending on the interest in that lot may well go to the bidder for £70.

Please note that where there are identical bids, the bidder with the earliest e-mail will be successful.

OR

(c) It is also possible to enter an 'Either/Or' bid which means that if lots exceed your top price you can indicate another lot that you would like as your second choice, again indicating the top price you wish to pay. Please note that the second lot must occur after the first choice lot in order for it to be an Either/Or" bid. Please write' Either/Or'

Buyer's commission as of 14 April 2010:
Members pay 7 1/2 % and Non-members pay 15% on top of the sold (hammer) price

We will accept telephone calls to describe the lots in more detail or to explain if necessary how to bid, but we will not accept telephone bids.

A photocopy of the under-bidders bid will be supplied if requested minus their name and address.

Details of the next Postal Auction on rare and pre-production models will appear on the web site www.matchboxclub.com as will the realised prices.

PLEASE NOTE: Buyers will be asked to settle for their lots by using PayPal (no extra charges will be levied) or by Sterling cheque or by Bank Transfer or Draft.
