Kevin McGimpsey the editor of the Matchbox Club web site and its team of writers welcome you to the Matchbox Club. We hope to keep you regularly informed about the
Matchbox hobby.

The Matchbox Club is a continuation of the internationally renowned MICA [The Matchbox International Collectors’ Association] that closed after 22 illustrious years in 2007.

In 1985, Kevin McGimpsey and Stewart Orr founded MICA at the bequest of the Matchbox trade mark owners, Matchbox Toys UK based in Enfield, Middlesex England.

The owners of the Matchbox brand wanted a club formed for their collectors but run independently. Between 1985 and 2007 MICA published 132 magazines and ran 47 Matchbox Conventions in countries including Australia, the USA, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Its worldwide membership peaked in 1989 at 5,000.

Stewart left the Association in 2001 and Kevin continued to publish and run the Conventions until April 2007. Due to the ever increasing costs of print it was decided to cease publishing and to communicate with collectors via the Internet.

The Matchbox Club went live on the net on 1 July 2007 and comprises 7 main parts:

The www.matchboxclub.com site
The E-Magazine (4 a year)
The Postal Auction (4 a year)
The Matchbox Shop
The Matchbox Club Convention
The Club's Archives of past articles
The Matchbox Club Annual (printed once a year...an optional extra)

You can also buy all kinds of old, new and rare Matchbox products through the Matchbox Club Auctions, which take place every 8 to 12 weeks. The Matchbox Club emails its members when the next auction is about to begin...and to close.

Even if you don't wish to be a member, please do visit us again because there will new articles of interest posted on the site regularly and these are free to read.

How to get into the Members' Area...

We want you to get the full benefits of being a member, so why not log into the Members' area and check out the free articles and past E-magazines?

Print this page out and follow the simple process to get into the Members' Area:

Under PRODUCT SECTIONS click the LOGIN heading…
Your User Name = Your Email address and we will have already sent you your unique Password (always a good idea to make a note of this password)

Click MEMBERS AREA…now you are in the Members' Area…the first article is usually the latest complete E-Magazine; but scroll down and see what is available to members…articles and E-magazines going back to E-Magazine #1.

When you see an article or E-Magazine that you would like to download or read, you do have to go through the purchasing process (even though there is nothing to pay).
Click 'ADD NOW'
Under the heading SHOPPING CART and DESCRIPTION you will see the item you want in red…click the blue words CHECK OUT…next page click NEXT…next page tick the TERMS AND CONDITIONS box and then click NEXT…on the next page at the bottom under SHOPPING CART and DESCRIPTION, you will see your ordered article/e-magazine…Press CLICK HERE TO DOWN LOAD… you are asked whether you wish to save the article or read it . By pressing SAVE it goes into your 'My Documents' folder for you to read at your leisure, but if you just want to read the article there and then, just press OPEN.

Remember there is no charge for this…it is Free to members.
